Indexing plugs

I think that I installed my plugs correctly. Today I went out and the motor idled great. Once I went to go onto pad the motor made a whining/buzzing sound.
Would this noise occur from not having the plugs indexed right?

All torqued down to spec? Air box seated properly? Did it do this before the plug change?

No there was no whiny noise before I changed the plugs.
It almost seems like I can hear the spark. Meaning the injector is not facing the plug properly. Would you be able to hear the spark trying to make contact?

Ok I have a very retarded question.
Maybe I dont have the plugs lined up correctly with the injector.
I was told to go to http://www.boatsetup.com/PlgIndexing.html to install these plugs. I noticed on page 2 there is a picture of a cylinder head without pins and the one below it has pins. They use the pins as a index line.

Beings mine does not show the pin like the 1st picture, do I line the plug up as if the pin was in that location? At that point it should be lined up in Zone "A" or "B".

Your goal with indexing is to have the line facing the injector. You have a 90* cushion on either side of the injectors. If you have to move the plugs around to get the index line as close to the injector then that is fine to try another plug in that slot.

When you de-carbed you did shoot the tuner down through the throttle bodies correct? You didn't try and use the schraeder valve on the fuel rail did you? That is a pressure test point not a maintenance port.

For the de carb, i used Evinrude De carb and added it to my gas.
So, the plug needs to face the right 90 degrees correct?

Does that make any sense at all?

For best results the plugs index line should face directly at the injector or a close as possible. you have a left 90* of the injector and right 90* of the injector but the desired result will be facing the injector.

I went ahead and removed all the plugs and tried again.

I got them right this time and the noise stopped.

What is the effect of this whisling noise?

I am hearing the same thing on my Evenrude 175. I though I was catching air around the trolling motor

I guess I need to check the plugs as the tech who did the compression check mentioned he had a hard time indexing them.

Personally I think its from the arc of the plug. It's sparking on the block wall rather than igniting on the injector.

Just a guess?
