Wingates Lodge on the east side of the lake in Georgia off the Flint River Fork...

Seminole Lodge in Sneads, FL on the west side of the dam at the south end of the lake.

Wingates has more history, better food. Friendlly folks but was better when Jack still owned it. May need a GA license, not sure.
Seminole more centrally located on the lake, better on site motel rooms, better rates, decent country restaurant a couple of miles away, no doubt about needing only FL license. Friendly folks, I have a couple of friends who keep their houseboats here.
Distance coming from south or northeast FL about the same, from northwest FL 15-20 miles closer to go to Seminole. Distance to off site lodging and dining about the same for either site.
If I were the rest of ya'll, I'd prefer Seminole. But if I was going to be there more than one day/night I would definately plan on at least one trip to Wingates for lunch or supper to enjoy the food and atmosphere and meet Jack if he's holding court on the front porch...you gotta love any place where you pay for your bait and bar-b-que at the same cash register.

I don't know if they still do it or not, but I remember when we fished there, the ladies had the kitchen going, and you took your plate and went back into the kitchen, told the cook how you wanted your eggs, and they fixed the plate as you stood there and watched!!
GREAT FOOD, and people!!!
Breakfast is still legendary at Wingates. And, that's the best time to catch Jack if you want an audience with him. Breakfast is good at Parramore's in Sneads too but I'd give the nod to Wingate's...

Just thought I'd better keep this one on everybody's mind if I'm ever gonna get a home game.
I finally recovered enough from my Toho butt whippin to get out on Seminole last Saturday. This was the first time my boat has been in the water since then but the weather finally cooperated on a Saturday for a change. I didn't have the greatest luck...only two strikes, two fish...one about 2 1/2 one about 3 1/2 off Rattlesnake Point in Spring Creek section of the lake fishing deep because the water temp was still running about 58-59 degrees.
There was a Stratos/Javelin tournament out of the Boat Basin here in Bainbridge on Friday and Saturday with 66 boats. 1st place was 41.14 lbs, 2nd was 41.13 lbs,
and 3rd was 33.11. A Redneck Trail tournament fished out of Wingate's with 25 boats and 17 lbs won that one. Across the lake where I launched, there were two club tournaments that day, one with about a dozen boats that was won with about 7 lbs and the other with about 40 boats that took 17 lbs to win.
I went by Wingates on the way home from work today and talked with the owner about what they had scheduled there for the next couple of months. The second and third Saturdays in May are open right now as well as any Saturday in June. He didn't seem to think he would have any problem accomodating us even if another tournament was fishing out of there whenever/if ever we wanted to come. But, motel/cabin rental could be a problem there if there was another one going on.
I'll try to get down to Seminole Lodge and talk to them and find out what's going on down there asap. I'm sure either place could accomodate a tournament any weekend we wanted to have one. The only problem will be lodging at the site for anyone who wants to stay at either place. There are several motels within 20 minutes of either place that are large enough to house our whole group. But the sooner we decide when and where the better for being able to get reservations.
If everyone can agree they want to have a tournament here maybe Ed can put up a poll to choose a date and we can get things rolling. Ed, I'll do as much leg work and make whatever contacts you want me to make...all you got to do is just point me in the right direction and turn me loose...

Keep working Ed over and he'll finally relent! Like I said before, " I'M IN" !!!!!![]()
