    Help with Lake Guntersville.

Heading down there on the 24th to fish for a week. Never been down that way before. Can anyone help me out with some websites for fishing reports. Or does anyone here have any thoughts about what to bring with (first time there and heading down from Chicago).

Thanks for any help in advance!

The fishing should be good, bring wide wobble shallow running crankbaits ,buzzbaits, and the rats. Mud creek should have a rat bite. Mid lake should be shallow around the backs of pockets and coves off the main lake, also fish around any island that has a mat or some good scattered grass. The schoolers are on right now. Hope this helps, oh yeah have a big jig on to.

This is GREAT guys. I have the lake reports already bookmarked (the web site with the fishing reports from the guides) Just wondering if I am missing a different forum or fishing report site.

Thanks so much for the help so far!!!!!

Yes I am. But I have very limited knowledge on this lake. I have read some reports online but figured that I would ask the folks here for any info that they might give up.

    Thanks,

    Joe

you could always ride down to top of the river and eat but i think its a little drive. you should eat there anyways though

From what I gather on the Souther BASS open on the G this week the big sacks were punching threw the mats with 1 and 1 1/8oz weights with tubes and craws. Took 67lbs for 3 days. You will really enjoy Gville, the lake has been awesome this year.

If you run under the main bridge and continue towards Brown's Creek there is a restaurant (Boondock's) next to Guntersville Boat Mart on the causeway. About a ten-minute ride from the state park ramp.

There is also a small diner-type bait shop/restaurant up in South Sauty Creek, but you will have to tie up and walk across the road to get to it and their hours are limited.

I fished as a co-angler in the B.A.S.S. tourney last week and Kerry is right, the leaders punched through the mats with tubes and craws and also caught them on Spro frogs. See http//blog.al.com/gone-fishing/ for a write-up.

Re: Help with Lake Guntersville. (gotta188vx)

That was one of the worst cold front conditions that I have ever fished in. I caught 2 in practice and then only 1 during the entire tournament. heck the cut to fish on the co side on saturday was 4 pounds........

Good looking lake but the fishing just sucked...
