JOHNSON 150 FASTRIKE GET HOT WONT RUN
I can't catch a break. motor starts and runs fine until it gets hot. I can run it up lake for 15 to 20 min shut it off to fish then go to start it up if it does start it spits and sputters try to drop it in gear and it dies. can sit and let it cool off and then it will start and go fine. then repeats problem after the next stop. is this a power pack issue. any help appreciated.
thanks

No alarms? Try pumping the primer bulb before you start it up. Or hit the choke. Sometimes injecting fresh cool fuel into the motor helps the issue.

After replacing the flywheel cover, did you adjust your timing roller and throttle adjustment back to spec?

no alarms, I did try choking it and that didn't help. I didn't try pumping the bulb. this problem also occurred at the same time the flywheel cover was cracked. I didn't adjust the timing roller or throttle adjustment. basically unhooked and sit straight back on to new cover. how do I check that or set it.
thanks

won't run at all without pumping the primer bulb.

Did you figure out the problem. My buddy had the similar problem run fine cold .shut it off fish for awhile start it back up it would run real rough put it in gear and would bog out.it was the thermostats the engine would get so hot it shut down cylinders .put new thermostats in and problem solved. And he had no temp light come on when it was happening.

no I haven't gotten the problem fixed yet. championman the roller is correct I had a new powerpack I put it on just to check it does the same. but now it just cranks doesn't turn over. this weekend I took kids tubbing even though I have this problem I just didn't kill engine. so we tubed for about an hour cut off and fished for about 45 min. tried starting back up and it just cranked trolled in and loaded up got it home and put it on ears and started fine. it did this both days Saturday and sunday. could thermostats cause this. is it a gas issue. stator or optical eye. not many boat mechanics in my neck of woods.
thanks
