    05 tr20x

Hey everybody i'm new to the board and am very excited. I just purchased an 05 tr20x last weekend and I can't wait to pick it up. I went and looked at it and it's in amazing shape. It has less than 50 hrs on it. I would give it a 9.9 out of 10. The guy hasn't used it in 3 years. Always garage kept. I wanted to know if anyone thinks it is a good buy (purchased for $22,000)? It has a 225 pro xs on it. I made a deal with the guy to take it to dealer and check everything over before full payment. I can't tell you how good of shape it is in. I'm upgrading from my 17 ft astro so it's going to be a totally different experience. The only thing I don't like about the boat is that it has a motorguide on it. I have used in the past and i'm not all that pleased. I've been wanting to buy a triton so I really didn't look at any other brand. Is there any advise that anyone could give me about the boat and triton in general? Thanks everyone

Sounds like a good deal on a boat that clean and low hours.
Good luck with it and welcome to the loony bin!

Welcome - congratulations - post some pictures!

I agree on the MG - I'd want a MK also.

    Re: 05 tr20x (rudapa)

THANKS GUYS. I'LL POST PICS WHEN I GO PICK IT UP. SO EXCITED. HOPEFULLY SPRING COMES EARLY THIS YEAR. IF THE WEATHER STAYS LIKE THIS I MIGHT BE ABLE TO TAKE HER OUT SOON. I'M AMAZED AT THE AMOUNT OF ROOM ON THE BOAT AND THE STORAGE IS PROBABLY 3X WHAT I HAVE ON MY ASTRO. THERE IS NO WASTED SPACE ON THE BOAT. ARE THERE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE BOAT OR MOTOR THAT ARE A COMMON OCCURANCE. I LOVE TO DO MY OWN WORK AND MAINTAINING ON ALL MY TOYS, SO IF THERE IS ANY ADVICE ON MAINTAINING THIS NEWER BOAT ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

As far as maintenance for the opti head on over the the mercury board, you will find a wealth of information over there

If its sat up for three years, I'd put a new water pump in it before I ran it. Rubber is probably dry rotted and that's pretty low cost insurance.

Sounds like a real good deal provided all checks out. You will love that boat!

Oh, give that MG an honest chance. I have had MK's and several MG's. Personally, I like the MG much better. Had problems with all of them but the MG's are a lot easier to work on for us do it yourselfers... JMO

22k for a '05 TR20 sounds like a great deal. Go to your local Minn Kota Authorized dealer and tell them you want to trade that Moterguide for a new Minn Kota. You will probably get a couple hundred for that MG.

    Re: 05 tr20x (tnsnow)

I picked up a super clean 2004 TR21X DC in Alabama in October for 17500, the Merc had 200 hours on it and I think the boat is near showroom condition. It too had less than 6 outings on it in the last 3.5 years due to the owner working hard to keep things afloat.

For me, I had to install all new plugs, new water pump, new fuel filter etc. When I checked the fuel line, it was damaged from ethanol so I have all new line coming so I can replace it from the tank out.

    Enjoy your new rig!!

Mark, what is that in the hose?

    Re: 05 tr20x (Cabela10)

That is the liner of the hose, the ethanol ate it up and caused it to crack and break up. That is why we need to replace our fuel lines with ethanol resistant line to prevent that breakdown. You can check your own line by cutting a few inches off of it and opening the hose up like I did in that photo.
