Lower unit question 225ho

04 225 HO ser #05064973 04 .

I blew my lower unit last year and it was covered by warranty or I would have taken it to gearcaseman(Eddie) so the dealer replaced a few parts (gearcase itself was not damaged) however I changed the oil yesterday(I've made maybe 10 trips on it since rebuild) How much metal should be showing on the magnets? there was quite a bit and I guess I'm getting nervous now.

Small shavings are OK big chunks are not.

Thanks it just seemed to be alot but they were shavings not chunks

That is from the gears meshing together and getting to know one another. It should be just down to fine shavings on your next drain/fill.

Just got mine rebuilt and was instructed not to run much over 3500-4000, for the first couple hours and to change my oil after 10 hours.
