    Question: Hydraulic JP for a 05 Stratos 201ProXL w/ETECH 225HO or no

I currently have a 8 or 10" manual setback with a ETECH 225HO running a 27' Tempest Plus and sometimes a 26' Tempest Plus. My boat is heavy, loaded with tackle and baits. I'm considering going to a hydraulic JP. A few questions ...

    1) Is it worth the money for going hydraulic, if so, what plate would you recommend.
    2) With my current setback, should I stay with the same setback or smaller or larger??
    3) Should I also have a gauge (for height) put in as well??

I love my hydraulic JP. You can adjust with ease for rough water, testing props, tight turns, low bridges and pulling your boat in and out of the water. I prefer the Atlas JP, it is fast, stiff, and self contained internal pump. I would stay with an 8 or 10" plate. Also I would get the gauge, because when you are running down the lake and making adjustments you want to know where you are at, but I have scribed below pad numbers on mine to help as a visual. Hope this helps!

I have a 8" Bob's on mine and really like it!!! I would do the 8", if I were you....If you can swing a gauge, I'd do that too......I dont have one, but sometimes I wish I did!

    Rick, Ralph,

    thanks for the feedback ...

    Rick,

Why 8"? My 201 is a little longer than your 200, 6 or 8" longer I think. Maybe 10" may work better? Just curious. Let me know your thoughts on that. Thanks.

I don't think you'll see that much performance with the 10 over the 8 but I could be wrong
