225 ficht overhaul

I have a 1999 225 Ficht that is in need of a overhaul.The reason is it swallowed a reed valve,retainer and screws on #5 piston. It damaged the top of the piston pretty bad but didnt hurt the cylinder wall.Also it damaged head.I have another head and I am going to buy a complete overhaul kit with pistons,rings,bearings and gaskets.My main concern is what are the little things I need to know about this and What is the major diffrence in this overhaul and a 4 stroke over haul other than no timing?I have full confidence I am capable of doing this succesfully,I am a ase master cert. tech and als a gm master cert. tech. Plaes let me know the in,s and outs of this overhaul. Thanks in advance for all your help!

I reccomend you buy an original OEM Evinrude service manual.
It extremely detailed with text and photos and will provide torque specs as well as special tool and sealant info.
You better take a good look at the injector on that cylinder as well.
If you have any question about it, replace it or send it to DFI Technologies and have them test it for proper operation.
I would also replace the water pump & inspect the rest of the cooling system and replace as necessary.
You can install E-TEC 90 degree V-6 thermostats which open @ 141F instead of 134F like your originals. I would also install QC10WEP Champion plugs and index them properly.
I would also replace the oil lift pump with a new one just for good measure.
I would clean and service the oil tank & filter as well before returning to service.
