I just purchased a 1995 201 Pro XL and the gas gauge does not work. Is there a fuse box on this boat that I can check, or does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be the problem? Any help will be appreciated.

Does your boat have 2 gas tanks??? I have a 1993 201 and it has 2 (25) gallon tanks. Mine has a selector switch to the right of the steering wheel that switches the guage from one to the other. If so, that might narrow things down a tad!!!![]()
Set the HOOK!!! They ain\'t got pockets!!!
The gas guage is not fused...It should be powered by the key switch...It does not work until the key is turned to the "RUN" position...Does it light up, or do anything, or is it just totally dead?...
the gauge shows empty at all times. When I move the selector switch, the needle will move slightly, but then stays at the bottom of the gauge. It appears to be getting power, because the volt meter jumps when the switch is changed, or should I say the switch appears to be getting power.
Make sure all of the negative cables are connected to the battery. The negative cable for the gas tank is directly wired to the battery.
sounds like the dreaded sending units. they can and do go bad ( see my post on gas woes.) bought a new tank and it had a bad sending unit in it so, once replaced it works fine. You may want to just go ahead and contact c+o and get a new 50 gallon tank to replace the 2. I also have my 2 if you want to try them but it is a pain in the butt to replace them since they are the old style. Steve
Well Kenneth and LK were both right. The man that I bought the boat from had the negative wire connected to the positive post on the battery. When I swapped this wire, one of my tanks registered and the other did not. So I guess that the sending unit is bad in that tank. I might just change both sending units when I change one, I'll let you know. Thanks to everyone who answered this post. As a new owner of a Stratos boat, it is great to know that there are people that can and will help me with problems. I hope everyone has a great day.
