Installing my Lowrance 332 now... curious about mounting the puck or antenea. Can I post it 6-7 inches behind the unit? Will the windshild or the unit itself block signal? Would it be better to mount it at the rear of the boat, only prob with that is it would be on about a 10 degree slope...

I can go snap a pic of mine, but the dealer put it on the little black rubber "step pad" between the windshield and the side of the boat. Kinda in the little "v" formed where the deck, console, and side of the boat meet. It gets great reception! No issues with it at all.
About anywhere you wish will be fine.....the antenna will even work under the dash. The 12 sattalite systems pick up very well and take some serious effort to obstruct.
