    Add carbon guard with xd-100?

    Hi All,
I have seen it stated here that it was not neccessary to add the carbon guard when
running the xd-100,but will hurt if you do add it?
    Thanks for your time!

I am still using seafoam and the fuel additive for the alcohol in our local gas but that's just me. I have not heard anything about harmful effects of carbout or your carbon guard. I can tell you this, that a stuck ring because of carbon build up can ruin a cylinder wall and gall a piston. Then you are in serious trouble. Any approved product I think is worthwhile and I can afford I try to use it in a preventive manner.

I don't think you need it with XD100. It has cleaned out the inside of my prop already. Its good stuff.

Yep, no problem at all..................they will mix fine, but I would run the 50 down and then fill with 100.........................Roger

Does the xd-50 also have the carbon guard or just the xd-100?

I beleive it is only a characterisic of the 100.
Low ash, clean burning,no buildup. Thus eliminating the need to clean the carbon.

The xd-50 is a semi-syn oil, and it's still recommended to decarb anually due to the dino oil content. While the xd-100 is full syn. I think the 50 does have some carb-x but I will defer to the gurus.

XD-50 states right on the label it has carb-x in it.

I have run this for the last 2 years in my Ficht 200 without any issues. It does soot up the back of the motor though, more than I would have thought based on the marketing hype.

I thought it did, it is still recommended to decarb anually or every 100 hours due to the dino oil content.

After you decarb, take it to the lake and run it good, then come home and change the plugs.
