    Gauges

I just bought a 2004 Skeeter ZX 250 and really love the boat however I am having issues with gauges on the boat. The engine is running and the main power switch is on however my Tach and Speedo gauges are not working, does anybody have answer to this question before I take it to the dealer???

    Re: Gauges (top1704)

Well, nobody had replied so I'll give it a shot. First, I'm not familiar with the gauges on the 2004 model. If they are the electrical panels then what I'm about to say is crap and you need to find someone with more knowledge. Mine's a 97 model.

On the older boats like mine, the Tach is run off of one of the votage regulators you will find on the back of the motor. Two on mine. Gray wire on the regulator is what hooks up to the tack. Look to see if the wires look burnt. Since you have two regulators only one will be hooked to the tach wire. Disconnect the one hooked to the tach and connect to the other regulator. If that fixes the problem with the tach then replace that regulator. Look to see if your voltage is reading in the 14 range when running. Higher or lower can be a sign of a bad reg.

Some tachs have switch setting on the back of the tach that may need to be adjusted to fit your style of motor.

Speedo should have a pitot tube at the base of the motor. Look for a small hole in the front of the foot of the motor. Not uncommon for this to be clogged with wood, grass, debris. Take a paper clip and see if you can dig the clog out. You can also take a small drill bit the size of the hole or a little smaller. TURN IT BY HAND! Do not put it in a drill!

Best that I can do for you. Like I said, if otherwise someone else will have to advise you.
