Bummer. You might try calling Hydro-tec. They had a listing of LU's on their site

Is your insurance not covering it?

I would be calling Bob from insurance forum to avoid any issues in the future.

    Re: New rock pile (perfection)

I sell insurance as well here in MN. There is no reason for that claim not to be paid if you did indeed strike a object in the water, which then led to the lower unit being damaged.
Talk to your agent and bend his ear a little bit. I can't imagine a exclusion which would apply if you ran into something.

Believe me, I indeed hit a rock pile! Feel like I'm gonna throw up. I'd rather get kicked in the "gonads" then something happen to my boat Did call Insurance co. today, they haven't gone over estimates, etc. yet. Maybe Wednesday.

Well, try to be patient. Call again tomorrow and see what they have to say.
It should be a cut a dry claim.

I have agree....should be a no brainer....I hit something with my prior boat and bent the shaft and tore up the prop....did not even know what I hit....State Farm told me to get an estimate which I did.....he wrote me a check when I presented it to him....

    Re: New rock pile (Bigg-Un)

I have state farm also and they did the same thing twice with me. The first time I sheared the lower unit off on a floating log right below the surface. The second time I hit a sandbar and ruined the gears and prop. Both times I had a check the next day. Unfortunately the power head does not seemed to be covered for any damage.

Re: New rock pile (Ron S)

I have State Farm also for my boat, cars, and house. As a matter of fact I just talked to my agent yesterday to decipher the ins. lingo and tell me what exactly is or is not covered. Seems like great coverage on ever aspect of the boat, but the powerhead.

I work for State Farm. Glad you guys had some good experiences. Always call your agent if you are unsure about the claim. You may be surprised that you can be covered for it.

    Re: (Ron S)

That does sound more like a warranty issue. It also highly depends on what's causing you to lose compression. It's hard to say.

    Re: New rock pile (sceetor)

Never had a problem with State Farm. A friend hit a 20ft telephone pole floating in the Ohio River. Busted the transom and did a number on the motor. They covered a new boat.
