    bow mounted transducer

Has anyone successfully mounted a transducer in the bow section of the keel with a commercial "Keel Saver" installed?? I've had different individuals say YES/NO...if so, what degree of readability did you get? I'd really like to get away from my trolling motor transducer setup, but am leery of trying to shoot through my Keel Gard.........thanks for any and all replies.

    Re: bow mounted transducer (Hardhead1)

Nice thought hardhead, but for several reasons i don't NEED one..first, the cost of replacement, just for the convenience, and secondly, and most importantly, a built in transducer is not a guarantee of compatibility with my Lowrance lcx27...I suppose i am relegated to keeping my puck mounted on my MK for a few more years.....oh well........

    you are exactly right chatece
read the new issue of BASS. there's an article on sonars, and I guess the guy has worked for Lowrance for like 30 years. it said that when he talks the pros listen, and that he has taught many pros how to really use a sonar. my point was that he said built in transducers are basically a waste, indicating that you lose alot of sensitivity/performance with them because they are not specifically made for your particular brand of sonar. I guess that statement makes all the guys like me who haven't been able to afford a TM with a built in ducer feel great, and all the guys who have them will prolly be in denial! lol

    Re: bow mounted transducer (blackknife)

I had a built in trandsducer on my Minnkota 101 us pro and it was NOT NEARLY as SENSITIVE as the TM puck I'm using now on my Motorguide. By the way, I'm using the same LCX-19 for both...plus, the built in do not have temp!
