    VRO compatability

Silly question, I have a 1993 Johnson 200 Venom, VJ200sletc with the four wire VRO, and believe the fuel pump is weak. I pre mix so VRO is not connected, Have a chance to get a three wire pump for a decent price.....will it work? are all of the actual fuel pumps the same? of course with the exception of the fuel line size ie: 5/16 versus 3/8.......?

A three wire is an older pump, I would not back up in technology on fuel/oil pumps.

Since you aren't planning on using the oil side, it will work fine...

There are differences in the compounds that make up the fuel diaphragms in the older pumps that may not like the fuel blends of today.

The oil side is not the issue here.

Ok, all very good points I hadnt really thought about! I guess the old saying "they dont make em like they used to" is probably a good thing in this case!
Is there a rebuild / repair kit available for these pumps? if so does anyone know who carries one? I looked on the BRP online catalog and they have one listed but no part number??? Or do they make a pump that is non-vro that would be ok with todays fuels?

By the time you get done with the rebuild we could have 5 installed new out of the box and you would still not be sure if you have your's correct. Yes BRP makes a fuel only VRO/OMS part # 5007421 it will save you about $40-50 and you will have to premix. Part number 5007420 list for $400.00 with the new price increase but you won't have to premix.

    Re: VRO compatability (ChampioNman)

well, maybe its just me...... but I was thinking a rebuild kit would be like those I had seen in the past where you would just clean up the housing and replace a diapragm?
I prefer to mix and not rely on a pump that may or may not always work I know the newer pumps are reliable but even they too can fail. as we have all read in these and other boards. so spending that much on a pump that I would not be using as it was designed seems rediculous. no offense meant to anyone, just my oppinion.
