First time on this board. Own a 115HP Faststrike. Tried to buy 130Hp E-Tec a few years back when it was in the brochure. I hear this may finally happening. Does anybody have knowledge of the motor being release for 2009?

Yep, it is official, there will be a 115HO model and a 130hp E-TEC for '09. See your local dealer.

Isn't the current E-Tec 115hp a pseudo HO![]()

Could be !!!! It seems the "NEW" 2008 115hp is a rebadged as a 100 year Anniversary model. We will have to wait to see. Seems a bit strange to call it a "HO" as I have always had in my mind that "HO's" were a high performance extra 10% horsepower models. What else could BRP have hidden in these superb motors.
The 130hp will be quite something.
These 1726cc powerheads started life in 1995 as a 115hp & also a 90hp. It was also released as a Higher performance model known as the Intruder. It has never been officially bigger than 115hp though. This new 2008 130hp if it has the same 1726cc powerhead has got to be something REALLY special because not only putting out a minimum of 130hp (probably more) BUT, it has had to come up to the strictest emission compliant motor yet. I think this could be one of BRP's greates achievments.
The current 300hp has been called a HO in earlier advertising. I have considered this long & hard & read as much as I can on this 300hp subject. The conclusion I have come to (and may be incorrect) is that the current 300hp is a 2 star emissions compliant motor, not 3 star compliant, and as such it MAY in fact be greater than 300hp as a result. I understand that the 'next' 300hp will be 3 star emissions compliant & may then lose some horsepower & then be a genuine 300hp. We will see.
ALL E-tec are superb motors though. Far better than the rest particularly for all round use.

I'll bet what they do is gradually down tune the 115hp's with must have MAP updates that will then allow the 130hp to outperform the 115.![]()

Well the 115 is & always was 124hp, so I suppose it was always a HO model (+10%) without the "Stars & Stripes" decals. It will be interesting to see the differences in the 130hp.
We all gotta admit that V4 it is a honey of a motor.

The '09's have a totally new exhaust leg, but same gearcase, in addition to engine tweaks. New valving on the exhausts and a folded, tuned pipe within the exhaust. Cool stuff. Look for them late summer.
Are you telling me the 115HP was actually a HO? The reason I haven't bought one yet was because when I bought the 115 Faststrike, I was told it produced 125Hp. I did not want to replace it with less HP.
Hi BillS
If you read the some old posts you will see that the production of the E-Tec 130 was stopped, this was due the the fact it could not out perform the E-Tec 115hp hence as they say here in OZ its a Claytons HO.....a top little motor.
