    Tubes or no tubes

I know this has been talked about some. I am thinking on getting some rod sleeves. I have seen the post "8' Rod in a 719???" from bassinbama. They look great. More than any thing every one seems to say its easier to get your rods in an out of the lockers with them. No snaggin up. Well my question is has any one decided to take out the rod tubes and leave the rod butt holders in. I tseems it would work out. Reason why I am thinking of doin this is it seems hard to get the rods in and out with my dual console. Without it its much easier. So will the rod sleeves make it worth leaving the tubes in? Thanks

Re: Tubes or no tubes (revinkevin)

I'll tell you what, I have them on both sides and had the 2nd set added to my starboard side when I went out to TN for my 2nd console.

I use Rod Socks to cover/protect my rods and after having them if I had to do it all over again, would not get rod holders/tubes. I like the color coding system I have developed with the Rod Socks for my rods and with no tubes could keep 20 in one rod locker and use the other locker exclusively for dry storage.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with them at all but I think I could set it up differently and make it more optimal for me. Let me know if you want to buy my rod holders (both sides if you like) as I'll unscrew them and sell them to you. They are literally like all Phoenix accessories, very modular and easy to work with!

Thanks and no thanks. I dont want to add tubes/holders to the other side. My has them in the port side. My question is has any one taken them out and found it easier to store thier rods. Sounds like you have Chuck. What about any one else?

I'm with Chuck on this one. Removed mine yesterday. I found it difficult to get to the bottom rods with them installed

My bird had rod tubes on BOTH sides. I find it takes just a bit more effort getting a longer rod in the organizer. I need to experiment more with it though.

From lknbassman..."I use Rod Socks to cover/protect my rods and after having them if I had to do it all over again, would not get rod holders/tubes. I like the color coding system I have developed with the Rod Socks for my rods and with no tubes could keep 20 in one rod locker and use the other locker exclusively for dry storage.

    Well said.

Re: Tubes or no tubes (1blubyu)

Well, my last boat didn't have the organizer and before the stik jackets/rod socks/rod gloves it was a PITA. The stik jackets make life easier but I still had to take some of the ones on top out before I can get to the bottom. The more rods in the locker, the harder. I think the organizer cuts down boat rash on the reels since they don't lay on top of each other.
