    Phoenix or Ranger?

I am about to buy a boat and was wondering if I should get a Phoenix 618 or the Ranger 188vx. I really like the Phoenix but haven't heard much about them. With all the same options and stuff there is only about 2000-3000 dollar difference between them with the Ranger bein on the higher side. Wonderin what yall think.

btw I just started on BBC just a few min ago

I have a Phoenix, but i won't knock Ranger. I did fish out of a 188 Ranger this year, and it beat me to death. Everything else was fine. Go test drive them both and then decide for yourself. I haven't found anything that rides, drives and performs like the Phoenix.

I'm a Ranger guy but I would look at the phoenix before you pull the trigger on th 188. I think you find that you will get more boat for your money with the 618.

First of all, Welcome to BBC!!! I think you will find that there is a ton of information to be had on here to help you in your decision. Secondly, if you would like, I can send you any information on the Phoenix you would like to have.

Price wise, the Phoenix will be the best value by far. Alot of the standard equipment on the Phoenix will be options on other brands.

Welcome to BBC! I was in the exact same situation you were in a few months ago, but ultimately decided on the 618. Ranger makes a fine boat, but you can't beat the storage and features offered in the Phoenix, IMO.

I'm amazed that the prices were that close. They sure weren't that way for the Z519 vs the 719.

Welcome to BBC. If I were you I would look at the rod lockers. The 188 is a fine boat, however, I have found the rod lockers and front deck a little less than accomodating, especially for longer rods. Also, the ride and the handling on the 618 will be noticably better than the 188. But, check them both out and decide for yourself.

i price the 719 and the z519 with equal equip and the ranger was only 3000 more. Although that is a lot it does have a great reputation and Phoenix who knows?? That being said I like the new phoenix a lot and may also get one.

It was a hard decision but we went with the Phoenix 618. Nobody around had a 188 on the floor so we couldnt test drive one but test drove a 619 and it was smooth but nearly everyone i talked to said the ranger would beat you to death.

Hopefully I will get it before the dog days of summer come

In the same boat. Bwaa, no pun intended. Trying to decide between Ranger and phoenix. I do like the removeable second console. Question is, is it an option on the 619?

Yeah, I believe all Phoenix boats have the removable dual console as an option

Removable passenger console is available on all the Phoenix Boats models.

Yea the duel Console is an option on all the boats and can be added at the factory anytime later I was told. Not sure if the dealers will be able to do it though.

PHOENIX ALL THE WAY! I believe that with Phoenix boats your getting a boat from a company that has their hearts fully in customer service. The quality of the boat is exceptional. The boat has lots of innovative options. I dont think you would get the support from another boat company.

    Go Phoenix!

I had called the factory and asked about it. It has to be done at the factory, but you have to go through a dealer to get it done. Would love to have it quoted to me for my 721. Have asked a couple of dealers for an exact quote but I know they are busy.
