Guys,
I am looking at the Legend line up, For the guys that think a loaded Skeeter/.Ranger is 80/90K YOU HAVE lost there mind. Anyone that actually shops for sopmething like that is looking at about $63/64 K.....I bought one in 2010 and a buddy did in 2011...These legends fit an finish has me intrigued. I am def interested this time around..BUt to read a post like this with some of the ignornat comments is quit amusing. Is it like this always on this board? LOL...Next boat will be a phoenix or legend...

E73....I personally don't have that 'citizen' attitude. I was raised Military and work for the Military (contracting). I just know how people are and I am sad to say there are Military people that would take advantage of a situation.

I, personally, don't feel worthy to own the Tactical because I have not served. But one day, these boats will be used boats and will hit the market and the savings passed on to the general public.

Like I said, BC has their heart in the right place.

Bad part is, they aren't "loaded". That's MSRP, no telling what people get them for.

I'm not sure when you guys were active or how long you stayed and what rank you achieved, but for myself, after 12 years in and a rank of Ssgt, I could have quite easily afforded a 56k boat. Sure an E3 with 3 years in can't afford it but they can't afford much of anything after the strip club and booze.

Military pay is nowhere near as abysmal as people make it out to be. The entry level pay scale is utter garbage but what entry level job isn't? Stick around and you make more than enough cash to go with the benefits you get.

The real question is would I have actually paid that much for a boat, not even close. I make double now what I made then and I still wouldn't dream of it simply because it's just too much for me to stomach but I did have the money to do it if I had wanted to. I think Legend did a pretty damn good job here and I'm not even a Legend owner.

Re: (slodsm)

Affording a 56K boat and justifying a 56K boat are 2 different things.

Health,Food, Shelter,Transportation.>>>>Then the toys.
That is the order of survival. If you justify a 56K toy and the other are paid for by others--then so be it. Again why pay 10-15K more for something that you can't drive every day. We pay more for the boat then the vehicle that tows it--makes absolutely no sense.
As soon as we say that 56K is fine for something that was 30K just 8 years ago and continue to buy it, then the demand stays high and the mfg continues to legitimize the price. 39K for a NITRO Z9 with a 250 Pro XS looks better and better every day. By October those can be had for 36K.

I'm going on my 16th year on active duty and have spent the last five as a Navy Chief. Been married for 10yrs and have an 8yr old daughter. Very smart with my money and no, I can't afford a 56K boat. Now, over the years COULD I have had a boat with my bonuses (reenlistments), hazard duty pay (3 tours in Iraq), and sea duty pay (3yrs on a destroyer)? Yeah, I probably could've made a down payment on a lower end bare bones model. BUT, our pay is NOT condusive to purchasing a boat.

Great post.

AND Navy Chief's pay is pretty darn good when everything is considered.

Re: (E73bass)

My point exactly. 39K for a Z9 with a Merc 250 ProXs or Tactical 191 with a 150 for 37K.

I'm not seeing the benefit for the military by Legend. I can buy a 2008 (new) Triton TR-20X with a 250 for 36k.

Or

A new 2010 Triton TR-18 with a 150 for 30K.

Oh well. Legend, I applaud you for the effort.

Sold a 929 Nitro last summer and got an Alpha 211....pretty easy to see why the price difference when u have owned both. If u want a Nitro...be my guest...not me..and i bought neither new by the way...i bought a 2 year old Legend for what the new Nitro u are quoting and mine has an 1187 and twin power poles....no way i get into another Nitro after the Legend.

Comparing a 929 to a Z-9 is nite and day. Unless you want to compare your 211 to the previous LE-21.

Re: (rwthunder)

It ought to be an unwritten rule on this forum to not allow anyone to use the word Nitro with the words Legend, Ranger, Skeeter, Triton, etc. in the same sentence. I made the mistake of selling a Ranger to buy a Nitro a few years back. Lets just say if you just want to throw thousands; and I mean that in a big way, of dollars worth of equity into the wind and watch it blow away, sell your a top end/big name boat and go buy a Nitro. I was one sick puppy after that ordeal........

Re: (one agenda)

Any year or model----Easily would take a 2009 Z-9 over a 2001 R-71.

apples and oranges I know.
That s why he needs to call out a year and model

Actually my 211 compares pretty close to an LE-21. A few refinements but not a great change. Point is if u want a nitro by all means go and get u one and if u think a ledgend is overpriced by all means stay away from one and get what u want. No need to disrespect those of us who think differently.
