can a 40 HP etec be networked with a lowrance unit... to show engine functions? just wondering, this would be a cool way to get by gauges...

Should be possible from -08, if I am not wrong.

Only if the 40hp E-TEC is a 2008 model year. The earlier E-TECs 90hp and smaller did not have NMEA 2000 capability.

Ok, let me expand this question... first off, I'm putting together a small boat package. Don't know what boat yet, (well, kinda do) but my motor choice is a 2008 etec 40HP.
here is the extra... can I network with a 2008 etec 40HP rope start/tiller?
thanks again...

Last I heard was that all 2008 shall be with NMEA-capabilites. NMEA and rope start might be a challenge, will you power the instruments from the motor and not use any battery? Could be OK, but I would check with a skilled tech, not one who just does the standard motor installations.
