    End of high performance tin??

First Tracker stops making the Avalanche, then shortly thereafter G3 stops the HP series, then I find out that a year or so ago, Triton stopped producing the Magnum. What's up with all the boat manufacturers giving up on high performance tin?? Seems like Xpress is the only one out there now making a wide beam, 18+ foot tin rig that can handle a 150hp or higher outboard. And those are nearly impossible to find in the Mid-Atlantic!

Some of us don't like the weight, care and feeding of a glass boat!! Okay, rant over. Had to get that off my chest. Guess I'm keeping my G3 for a long long time!

It might be the cost of aluminum that keeps companies from producing these types of boats. It may be that they can not produce these boats for less than a glass boat. Only Xpress does not offer a glass boat. Triton has their glass boats, Yamamha owns Skeeter and G3.

I think the problem was that the higher end aluminum boats were getting too close in price to the glass boats. Especially since the manufacturers have had to discount the glass boats to move the inventory. I agree with your post though, my next boat might have to be Xpress.
