G3 short for GIII Yamaha changed it up when the bought GIII years ago.
Don't know if that boat will fit the bill or not that depends on what it will be used for and what the water is like in the area you will be using it in.
Do not buy one without a galvanized trailer.

And GIII stands for-r-r-r-r?
I thought it was 3rd generation but I'm only guessing.
Some people are so judgemental. You can tell just by looking at 'em.--Some random meme

Generation III is what I've always heard. It's my understanding the founder of G3 is the grandson of the founder of Lowe Boats. He's a 3rd generation boat builder.
Ok- that makes more sense. Where the "III" came from was the mystery. I've seen some old boats with "Generation III" on them and thought it was a predecessor to G3. Every name should have a reasonable story behind it.

That is correct, but I think there was also another boat brand in there too, which is also where the III or 3 comes from. 3rd generation and 3rd boat brand. The family sold the other 2 as they did with the 3rd when Yamaha bought it.
Anyone know whether or not Glasspar boats was part of their history? They were a fiberglass company that had a ski boat model named the "G3". It was named after a military missle of the age. The company was out of CA.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glasspar
The article says that they were sold to Larson Boat company in 1969.

This article on Larson boats says 1966 though and kinda ends the history of the company there.... That company is out of MN and is still around.
Of course, this path could be completely wrong...
All I can truely confirm is that Yamaha bought G3 in 1997. Who knows???

From what I understand, they have only been in the "tin" business.![]()
That's not true, I've seen their late '90s 'glass boats that were made by Skeeter.

You are right, they were Skeeter's with G3's name on them, just like Skeeter's aluminum boats were G3 boats with Skeeter's name on them. They have not produced Glass boats, just traded some product with their sister Yamaha owned company for a little while.![]()
