Looking to see if anyone has any ideas on replacing a 33 gallon polyethylene fuel tank for a 1999 201DC Viper Cobra? Last resort will be a custom made aluminum. Trying to find a replacement.

First off, welcome the site! I cannot imagine that it's going to be a trivial job. If I were a betting man, I would think the top cap has to come off. Not good...![]()

Kevin...You won't have to take your top cap off to get the tank out but you'll need to do some serious cutting. What's wrong with your tank anyway?
I Found this reply (in Search) from our resident expert...Cleveland.
<FONT COLOR="blue">" Since your fuel cell is located below your seats, you have to remove the seats and cut out the fiberglass that the bottom of your seats are mounted on. You have to cut the glass out down to the floor though and you can pull it out that way. You "might" need to remove the steering wheel because it could be in the way. I can't remember. I've seen it done many times at the plant but can't remember if the wheel was in the way or not. It's not a hard job to do but it is time consuming. Good luck !! " </FONT>
Listed below is a contact for Moeller who is the company that made your gas tank. http://www.nextag.com/moeller-...-html Ph: 330-405-3688

I thought I would be on Easy Street by now but somehow I missed the off ramp!
No, top cap does not have to come off. We cut out the seats...similar to the guy in the post. Tank has a hole in it, Moeller has been no luck for this tank, this tank is made to fit the boat. They no longer have the mold for this tank. Will probably have to go the route of having a custom tank built (aluminum). Was hoping a Cobra owner on here new of a salvage company or totaled boat to scrap.
Wow! I'd like to see a picture of that job. That seems pretty intense!![]()
