Man overboard....what ladder?

Is there an aftermarket ladder that can be purchased? I'm definitely going to need a ladder for a couple of reasons........
1) My kids love to swim while I'm fishing
2) I love to swim when it's 100* outside

A ladder is well worth the money. I went swimming off my boat when I got it many years ago and it took me several minutes to figure out how to get back in it. You think you can just pull yourself up but the way the hulls are designed it is hard to get any leverage with your legs to get out of the water.

E ladders are nice, but they can be tougher for older folks. I have a Garelick sport ladder that stays on the back deck. It is easy enough to install from the water, and it is pretty easy to use, even with clothes on. Certainly not everyone's choice, but it should be considered. I've had 2. My wife has a bad leg, and she can climb this, but she wouldn't even try with the E ladder.

I don't use seats. My stratos had a fixed boarding ladder on it. It was very nice.

I have a great ladder on my 198. Small, but effective and does not look out of place..

It came from the factory, so you might want to check with Stratos to see what they are using now..

Sorry Lea, my stratos bit the dust. I just bought a champ and it doesn't have a ladder on it. I was wanting to put one on it for safety reasons......and swimming reasons

Number 14 looks like the ladder we used to install on both most new late model Stratos before they moved and all Champions while C&O had them as well as the ladder that was on my old 181. Call Carol to confirm. I'd also get a small chrome grab handle if you are not long enough to reach the back seat post or have children as the top step is still plenty deep in the water with nothing to grab onto.

+ 1 on the # 14 ladder from C&O, this was the same ladder my Champion 186 had installed on it, Never got in the way, And was very functional, It did have a grab handle mounted somewhere around the splashwell.

How you figure? Bass Cat sells them. Pretty simple design. Pull the pin the lower rung drops in the H20 and you have to steps to get in the boat. Granted it isn't an everyday swim ladder but if it gets you back in the boat from a MOB situation. I'll take it. Sure beats trying to climb up the cavitation plate.

I don't have one on my Cat either. We get in the water too much in the summer. A wet size 13 foot slipping could easily end up on the prop. It's called an E-Ladder because it's primarily designed for an emergency. I'm glad they have them since most folks don't want a ladder at all in their boats.

I cant imagine trying to use an e-ladder after falling in with boots and full winter gear on vs a standard ladder. That's just me, different strokes. Without the grab handle or a back seat post the standard Champion ladder is about like the e-ladder but with a bigger target for your feet. You still would have to grab steering cables etc... to hoist yourself back in the boat.

The e-Ladder indeed beats the old cavitation plate and trim button!

I have #19, installed it myself, couldn't be more satisfied. It's out of the way and easy to pull down. It also works.
