I just got my Navonics+ card a couple of days ago and have been looking at lake maps. I noticed that the lake I fish at most because it is the closest shows 45 feet of water where there are actually islands.
The deepest parts of the lake seem to be pretty accurately marked. This lake has no water over 35 feet deep even when the lake is at normal level. At normal level, the submerged islands would have 10-12 feet of water above them, but the lake is about 17 feet low. The normally submerged islands are actual islands now but they show 45 feet. The lake is Canton Lake in NW Oklahoma.

markm55 - No doubt. You don't see this too often either. I checked the SonarCharts layer to be sure they hadn't fixed the discrepancy and it was consistent with the Nautical Chart. It appears to me that the islands and the "45" foot holes match up perfectly and when they were formatting the lake that somewhere in there the islands got written in as holes instead of islands. Like I said it's rare but no product is perfect and this map definitely needs to be corrected.

Because of SonarCharts this map can be corrected relatively easy. I'll submit a request in for correction. It is definitely a SonarChart needed lake. SonarCharts

markm55 - say, shoot me over a PM with your email and we'll work to get this map corrected. Thanks!

I heard a rumor the other day that was very interesting to me. I was told by a friend of a friend who heard from this one guy (you see why I'm questioning the validity of this rumor) that one of our local lakes is supposedly going to be re-surveyed for a new Navionics chart. The lake is Sakakawea in North Dakota. It is in dire need of new survey. Apparently, the lake was surveyed when it was approximately 25 feet below normal pool. Is there anyone that I can contact to find out if there is any truth to the new survey rumor?

I have a Lowrance Elite 7 HDI. I think the best choice for a Navionics Card is the Navionics Plus. It is only a 2 gig card. What i need to know is how much data is 2 gig. Say if I down loaded all the lakes in Alabama would it hold all of them and would there be any left. I need Alabama and Eastern Tennessee.

A Navionics Hotmaps Premium regional card is 2GB and it is not full. There is room for Freshest Data updates for a while.
The 2009 Premium regional card is a 1 GB. Only after the data exceeded the 1 GB capacity around 2012 did the Premium regional card get changed to 2GB.

With what you want, there is plenty of room including the Sonar Charts.

Another feature of the Navionics+ is you can delete what is on the card and start over.
You have a year to do all of that. A new purchase of any Navionics product includes a year of updates.

I have an old navionics east chip that is the SD size not micro. My new unit is micro only. Navionics use to have a trade in program so I could change to a micro card. Do they still have something like that or do I have to sell my card and buy a new one?

    There is no trade-in program.

Most all the Navionics cards now are micro-SD with a SD adaptor. They have some issues for "off brands" that use a different format.
You can get the Navionics+ software for $99 MSRP by purchasing the Navionics Update card.
You use the current card to active it, then it becomes the Navionics+ version.
Then you can keep or sell your current card since it is still usable.
Navionics+ also includes the Sonar Charts program and has no maps. You choose what to download to the card from anywhere in North America--no regional restrictions like you have now.
MSRP of the Navionics+ is $179.

MSRP of the Hotmaps Premium is $149
MSRP of the Hotmaps Platinum is $199
Both of those are regional versions like you have.

Just to clarify something; I recently purchased the Navionics Updates. When I receive it and use my old 2006 card to activate it; is it only a one time download of the lakes/areas of my choice or can I go back at any time and download more? Example, my first destination will be KY Lake, can I just download KY/Barkley area then weeks later download the region of Wisconsin I'll be fishing, then weeks later download regions of Minnesota I'll be fishing, etc. etc. ?

Yes you can add and delete wathever you want for 1st year. At the end of the 1st year you can purchase another Update or you save what you want.

50ft. with the Navionics and 20ft with Insight. I had to opend my Touch and look at it because I never need to zoom that close when fishing

How does the saving work? Can I only save to the card or can I save areas and store them on my computer for future use?

    There is no "SAVE" function

The locations are downloaded directly to the card using Navionics software.
That is the only way to process the map data.

You can't buy the software that does that.

    That didn't answer my question.
