    Newer Champion's seat attachment ?

On my 2008 203, somebody didn't attach the seats very well. Passenger seat screws have pulled out. These seat backs have 2 "clips" that slide into 2 "straps" on the back board behind them, and at the bottom of the bottom of the seat back there are 2 "tabs" that stick down that are screwed into the back board. Here's my question - If you raise the center seat there is a BIG sticker stating "Fuel tank is located directly behind this back board - do not drill or screw anything into it as it could cause fuel tank leaks"
Geez - there are already 20+ screws that mount the rest of the seat backs screwed right into this backboard.
Does anybody know that there is enough room to re-screw the seat backs into this back board?

May sound like a dumb question (since who ever mounted the seats originally ignored the warning label)

Bt last thing I want to do is puncture this fuel tank remounting the seat backs - - Any help?

    Thanks

as long as the screws are short enough they wont cause a problem. I thought the 203 fuel tanks in the newer models were under the seats. Mine has the tanks behind the livewells and a tank under the seats. Is there a plastic plug that you can remove to see how much room you have, so that you can determine how long your screws can be?

If I understand correctly, the newer boats have tanks which are underseat, but also extend up (L shape) behind the backs of the seats...

If you use the same size (length) screws, you should be fine. The warning label is to prevent someone, who is not familiar with the exact location of the tank, from drilling/screwing deeper into that area. However, to be on the safe side, contact your dealer or call customer service 615-494-2090.

On my 05' 203 the warning label is on a plate and you can remove the plate to get to the gas tank. Its not a very big opening but you could feel how much room you would have between the wall and the gas tank. Not sure of the 08' has the same opening or not.

Re: Newer Champion's seat attachment ?

You guys are great!!! I appreciate the info. I will remove the label plate that warns of not drilling into the backboard - to see how much room there really is. I was hoping not to have to disassemble more than I have to, but this is the only sure way of finding out how much space there is back there. When I open it up, I'll post the clearance so you guys will know what to do if you have the same problem.

    Thanks much
