    Genmar

If memory serves me right and it doesn't always anymore, I think Genmar was also the owner of Cajun Boats at one time. That was before Cajun closed its doors supposedly because of the unions. I owned a '96 190 w/ a 175. Great boat. I always thought the hull design particularly the back of the boat resembled a Champion. no doubt the above deck had little resemblance. For curiosity sake, was the design of the Cajun hull copied or designed as part of the Champion works.

Ask yourself this. Does it really matter? And does anyone really care?

I know you asked about a bass n bay or something before here and in the lounge but still........

I don't think so...but Pat Goff and MMosher will be able to confirm or deny.

Weellllll. Are we having a hissy. I ask questions when I don't know the answer. I now have four posts with this reply. At what point does someone become a respectable member? Didn't mean to get your pannies in a wad. I haven't owned a Champion yet but will eventually. But to tell you the truth if all Champion members were as testy as you appear to be then no one but YOU would probably own one. But the fact that I fish with several friends who own Champions and knowing the kind of folks they are. I'll just overlook your uncontrolled excitement and continue to ask questions which I don't know the answer to. That is if that's ok with you.

I guess this means you don't know the answer to the question.

    Re: Genmar (guiness)

I for one am curious if the late 80s 90s Cajuns were a champion splash- my dads cousin had a 17' rajun Cajun about a year before we got our first 184, it sure looked like a champ. If it was a splash they sure messed up some of the details, that thing would slide in a turn like nobodys business...

Oh, and welcome to our board. Make yourself at home here till ya get your champ, then post us pics ;)

No idea. I'll check with Pops tomorrow and see if he remembers or knows anything. I'm no expert (just love the history) by any means. Pat would be the one to ask.

    Re: Genmar (mixermarkb)

Thank you sir. Wasn't trying to stir anything up just a curious question. Some of the Cajun letters had been lost, removed or borrowed from the boat I had at the time and I ran around a couple of years without any identifiers on the boat. Can't remember the number of individuals who asked if the boat was a Champion. They always made mention of the pinched back end of the boat. I know the deck had virtually no resemblance to a Champion but I always wondered about the actual hull design. When I found this web I though I would ask. Just curiosity.

Thanks again for the welcome. I think this puts me up to maybe six posts now.

    Re: Genmar (guiness)

Welcome to the Champ forum...Please don't let one response bother you. Ask all the questions you need answers to!

Pat Goff will know if there is a Cajun/Champion connection. Also, there is a thread pinned near the top of this forum with lots of Pat Goff info. I don't rmember if there was a reference to Cajun or not. At any rate, when Pat sees your question, he will fill us all in!

Which model Champion are you interested in? I've had 3 and loved them all!!!

    Re: Genmar (Lea)

Bass and Bay. I mainly fish fresh water but do like to go to the coast a few times a year. I bought an Action Craft 2020SE flats boat several years ago mainly because the family outgrew the bass boat. A great boat. My family enjoyed the bass boat but we just outgrew it. I wanted the flexibility of getting back into salt water but also wanted to keep the bass deal going. The Action Craft design and layout is such that it can be a cross over but I found I've used it less than when I had a bass boat. The kids are now older, (girls), other things on their mind other than fishing so I'm now wanting to slip back into a boat I will use more and still get to the salt. Pat Goff posted the Bass and Bay 202 that belongs to a friend of his and it looks great. Its a timing thing. As soon as I can find an owner for the Action Craft I'll really put my nose to the ground for a Bass and Bay. Thanks for the post.

That old Cajun looks a lot like the old Skeeter Wranglers. I always thought that maybe Champion had copied and improved on the old Skeeter Wrangler hull. Maybe another question for Pat.

    Re: Genmar (guiness)

Well, I don't about where you come from but where I come from men don't wear panties. But that may be different where your at.

But to defend my post. Most guys who ask questions like the one you asked on this thread and have a post count of oh, less than 10 are doing nothing more than stirring the pot.

There is nothing in writing as far as I know to how many posts it takes to become a respected member of BBC.

And you have my permission to ask away with your questions.

If that was not your intentions please accept my apology.
