Jack Plate on a 2300 Bay Boat

I tried to post this but apparently did not do it right, I could not find where it posted.
Ok, I am wondering about putting a Jack Plate on a 1998 2300 Cajun Bay Boat with a 200 hp motor on it. I am fishing on the south Texas coast in the bays. The water is really shallow. The boat floats fine in 2' of water but motoring around is tough the prop sits around 2' below the hull I have to trim up the motor which seems to push the back down making it hard to get any amount of speed. Will adding a Jack plate on the boat help getting around or getting on plane? Will the transom of this boat handle it? What size Jack Plate will work best for this boat.
I know this will never be a Flatts boat and just am wondering if there is anything that I may do to help the performance. Any advice I appreciated

Yes, I am thinking of a Bobs. I just don't know what size to put on it.

Morning Dan and Welcome aboard. Most of the answers you will get here in the Cajun forum will be guesses, although some of them may be educated guesses. My advice is to go to the expert on this and run it by Todd on the "Set-ups by Todd" forum. That's all this guy does for a living and he has been there, done that, with anything you can imagine. He is also quite busy so have patience. http://www.bbcboards.net/zeroforum?id=11

Now here is my very uneducated guess: I think it would help and I think the transom would be no problem. There are props out there that like to run piercing (run so high that they are partly out of the water) and that should allow you to run WOT in some pretty shallow water.

    Good Luck
