Blowing out while getting on pad

I have a 96 PII with a 150 Evinrude Intruder that is turning a 24 pitch Raker 2. It is blowing out when I start to get on pad. I can have someone go sit up by the pedistal seat and I can get on pad.

I recently had a mechanic replace my motor mounts and add a hotfoot. It looks like he may have lowered the jack plate about 1/2in but it could have been like that when I bought it. It did not have this problem before the work was done.

Any suggestions? I did change hubs to make sure it was not the hub.

We would revisit the wrench and ask them this question?

would dropping the engine 1/4 make that big of a difference?

In theory dropping your engine lower in the water should help with blowout not make it worse. Did you change props? You said hubs but nothing about changing the prop. Also are you trimming all the way down?

Paul, actually yes I did change props and that was my next test to do.
The prop that came on the boat was a 24 pitch 14 1/2 Raker 2 but one ear was dinged up from hitting the ramp. It still jumped up on pad easily with no problems. After buying the boat I purchases a spare prop from a guy I know. It was the same prop however I know he had had work done to the prop. He said it was a 24 so I took him at his word although it is easy to see that it does not have as much cup as the original prop.

I switched props (to the new one) so I could get the other repaired. This is when I noticed this problem. At first I thought it had a spun hub so I swapped it out with the other prop's hub. It did the same. That is when I had my wife go sit up near the front and was able to finally get on pad but I still had to play with the trim and throttle as it broke over onto plane.

My schedule has not allow me to go run the old prop yet but I figured that would be my next step to rule out it being a prop issue with the new prop.

I agree that it's due to prop change. My hull is very sensitive to slight mods. It cannot run a trophy of any pitch without blowouts, but the fury doesn't have that problem. Go figure

I have almost the same issue, I tried raising and lowering the motor no help. I sent mine to the dealer cause I needed a new steering cable and the prop shaft was bent. Before I took it in it was ok, after it almost won't get on plane (major blow out) I was really scratching my head on this. Then I took a closer look at the prop, one blade was really bent. The reason I did not see is it was not just the end or anything, it was the whole blade out of place. Some times you really got to look close.

    Re: (bassbroker)

SOmething else I've done on a Pantera of mine is to put an exhaust ring in front of the prop, it fixed mine from blowing out instantly.
