    Prop movement on shaft

I have some prop movement on the shaft in and out. Has always been there. Checked on some other setups and there is no movement. Motor is a 88 200XP. When I bought this boat, it had an aftermarket prop lock installed. The lock nut is tight and the pin alignment is good. Is a little slop acceptable? Should I add a washer / spacer to gain a little more thread to hold the prop down tight on the thrust bushing? The play is about a 1/32". Thanks for any help.

Are you sure its the prop and not the prop shaft?

mmmmmmm could be the shaft. Just checked it holding everything together and it all moves. Will take off the outer cover of the prop lock so I can double check that in the morning.I bet you can guess my next question if it is the shaft that has the little play.

If your P.S. is moving in & out, even up to @ .o6o ", it's probably O.K., but to make sure, check your drain plugs magnets to see if you have any excess metal building up, that's the tell tale sign for sure!
