1. Dose the tiller kit for the E-Tec's have a spring loaded twist grip? In other words is it like the old OMC tiller outboards that would throtle down if you let go.
2. How do you fog a tiller equiped E-Tec?

Actually, the twist grips never had spring mechanism in them, the rotation of the flywheel or the timing advance spring will take the throttle back. The Tiller kit for the E-tec has a friction adjustment on it. 1. Put the engine in the water, 2. mix 2+4 in the fuel tank, 3.advance the throttle half way, start the engine(it will only run at idle, 4.after approximately 15 seconds, return the throttle to the idle position for another 15 seconds, then advance the throttle again to half, 5.the outboard will automatically go to fast idle and fog itself, allow the engine to run till it shuts itself off,(about 1 minute), 6.top off the oil resevoir, inspect the filter, replace it if it has debris in it. Make sure to drain the speedo pickup, if equiped, allow the engine to drain completely after winterization. The steps are the same for winterizing on the trailer, make sure the engine is in neutral. I recommend running the engine at 2or3 minutes before beginning the sequence to make sure the 2+4 is completely thru the system, the engines use very little fuel so it takes a while to work thru the system. The ideal way to do it is to run the 2+4 thru the engine on the last trip, that way it is fully flushed thru the fuel system.![]()
