How does one tell what map version a E-Tec motor has, if there is a newer version how does the owners know of this upgrade.

How does one tell what map version a E-Tec motor has, if there is a newer version how does the owners know of this upgrade.

There is a release date of the map. If the date is newer than the last time it was updated. or later than the motor was delivered to the customer then there is a new map.
picked up boat on 5-1-06, map dated 6-1-06, then there is a new map.
We document this info on every customers engine.
Also, If the dealer printed you out a profile, the info will also be on the printout.
We install a sticker on every EMM that list the date and the version that's installed. That way one quick look by anyone can see what's onboard. Ask you dealer to do the same. Infact take a sticker with you so that way you know they will do it.
We started doing that until all the map changes started coming out. At that point we started to put it in our computer system so we could call our customers when the maps changed. We do an update run with one of our techs sometimes. We go out and update all of our local customers in the same trip at there dock or home. We go from house to house and do the updates. We get paid 30 min for every motor that is under warranty so it is worth the trip as long as you do most of the engines in one trip. Well I got to run because my 5 year old just left the sink on in the bathroom. Looks like I can run motors in here now.
I can only dream of the kind of service you guys do! We have only one dealer listed here in Calgary for over 1 million people and he has not been an Evinrude dealer since Merc bought out Crestliner.
No dealer within 6 hrs. of here will even make an appointment let alone house calls! I had to incorporate my service 14 hours away on vacation and when the update didn't fix my problems our trip was diminished by a poorly running engine.

All cleaned up now. No it's a girl. She was more upset than me. She must have though I would get very mad. Was not even close to being mad. I Just broke out my 3.5hp and navigated the hall way. I cast out a line while soked up the water and cought me a rubber ducky.
We have 5-6 full line dealers in a 15 mile radius here. At least by us.
