    Gator Tackle and Kistler Rods

Guys...I am now going to be carrying Kistler rods and I wanted to ask for your input. I am trying to figure out what my initial order should be and wanted to see which rods you guys prefer. I imagine that the Helium and the Magnesium are going to be the most popular models...let me know which Length and Action are your go to so I can fill the shop with the right inventory.

Thanks and as always, we offer a 10% discount to BBC members.

    Helium - 7' H, 7'6 H
    Magnesium - 6'9 MH, 7' MH, 7'H, 7'XH

I have all of the above and I like all of them. I like the 7' XH in certain situations, but I don't think it's one of their most popular rods. These rods are built really well. I'm pretty hard on rods. I have broke a KVD Cranking rod twice in the time that I have had these Kistlers. Trey is a nice guy to deal with. I went to his office in Magnolia last year and he ended up giving me a tour of the shop where the rods are built. I saw where they came out with an Alabama Rig specific-rod. Haven't bought it yet, but with it coming from their Z-bone line, I'm sure it's going to be good.

    Re: (TritonBass2011)

These rods are somewhat underated IMO in terms of their labeling. Example MH more of a Medium. I have a He69MHC for worm fishing and a He69MHS for spinnerbaits. I fish lots of slop and grass and could have use a little more meat.

    Great customer service

    Re: (bayouXpress)

I spoke to Trey about becoming a dealer and I have to agree, he is very easy to talk to and I am impressed with the company. I think it is a great addition to Gator Tackle and I look forward selling there rods. I am planning on ordering the rods next week...so if you would like one let me know which model you want and I will put it on my initial order. As a board sponsor, I do offer a 10% discount to BBC members so if you need or want one...now is the time to get it.

Thanks so far for the input, I welcome more!

Thanks for the input on the Power...I have noted that they are a little light on the rating...

Just so you know the Mag All Day Power Tool for 2012 is 7'8" and is a Micro guide.

    Re: (Meyers)

Not trying to sound like a snob, but I made the mistake of buying one of Treys rods years ago Now I've got fourteen of them and want more Plus I've got a shit pot of old rods that are just gathering dust.
Seriously, I like the Mgs, but not a big fan of the micros guides, not anything wrong with them other than the extra cost. I also am in the market for a 7.8 Mg. , or two

Re: Gator Tackle and Kistler Rods (Meyers)

love a 7'8" mag.rod mh/h but no telescopic rods though. And like to see a mag rod in a alabama rig type rod?I have all mag. rods now and love them.mostly all rods after 2010 year were suppose to not break !None of mine ever have.
I just bought a new powell umbrella rig rod in a 7'9" for $169.00.would have bought a Kistler at that price range in a mag. model but they were telescopic.
I cant spend the Z-bone prices.

Re: Gator Tackle and Kistler Rods (billproxs)

I have 8 or 9. 2 mags, 1 Ltx and the rest are Heliums. I know plenty of guys here don't care for Kistler but that's not what you are asking. They are rated a little light, but I'm sure you will prob sell more med heavy than any other, IMO. Personally I believe their helium line is one of the best rods in the sport. A lot of guys love the z-bone,but it's a little pricey for me. I did break one Kistler but it was my fault. There are a bunch of great rods out there but these are my favorites. Good luck to you.

i own nothing but kistler...the 6' 9" medium heavy helium, may just be the best all around rod ever made...it gets it done for a lot of techniques...

Re: Gator Tackle and Kistler Rods (Meyers)

I have had 2 that was given with the entry fee for a tourny and I dont kno if they give a cheeper version but when i would set the hook the reel would come off the rod and when it didnt you could feel the reel wooble when reeling in a fish, tried different reels and same result so not impressed, like I said they may have been a cheaper version being a give away but not a good way to get future buyers

I love the micro heliums and the Zbones. I buy the Zbones when they go sale, a little pricey for me.

7 foot med heavy seems to sell the best around here. I have a helium that size that I love.
