    ZPI BEARINGS

I have been upgrading my reels with Boca Orange Seal ABEC 7's with decent results. How much better are the ZPI ABEC 7 ceramics?

It's hard to quantify "how much" better, but in my reels, the ZPI SiC hybrid ceramic bearings are very, very good. I like them better than the Boca A7's (orange sealed A7's which should be removed IMHO or the stainless shielded A7's) - all the performance and half the noise.

    Re: ZPI BEARINGS (Bronzefly)

Ordered three sets to do a little side by side comparison. Everything I have read tells me they should be a good bit better but you know how some things are hyped up.

Glad to hear some good reviews based off personal experience.

    Thanks,

    Re: ZPI BEARINGS (Dennis S.)

ZPIs are unrated bearings so there is no way to say if they are 7s..
For about 50$ right now are they wroth it over bocas? Only you can make the call..

I've got vxbs, Zpi, boca 7s and boca 9s in my reels and the boca 7s are solid bearings for the money.. either way any of those bearings are better then most stock as they are a higher quality bearing..

    Re: ZPI BEARINGS (Nitroman77)

Absolutely better than stock! I ordered a couple sets to do a side by side comparison. They need to be a whole lot better to justify the 2.5x cost.

I know my 100B's and E50 work great with the Boca's.

When you guys are upgrading bearings, do you typically just upgrade the two spool bearings?
Those are the only ones I can see really having much of an affect on casting...

Well I fished my Boca's side by side with my new ZPI's. The ZPI's are hands down smoother and much quieter. Not that the Boca's are bad, just not in the same league. As far as casting goes, no noticable difference. Are they worth the $30 bucks more. Not really sure.

I put ZPI ceramic spool bearings in my Aldebaran Mg and love the performance I get from them.
