A HPDI LU is 5 mph slower on a champion F&S than a stock OX66 LU with the same gears. Just ask Jeff Banko http://www.bbcboards.net...=3130

Just because they are pointy, look faster and cool, Don't mean it is more efficient of have the lift needed for all set ups. The rig will have to run super high to benefit from the LWP and added length of the gearcase or it will just be added drag.

Mike i tell my yamaha rep everytime i see him that the hammers would be faster on alot of boats if they would ditch the hpdi case and go back to the ox66 style case. Its a fact that a boat running less than 80 is faster with the torquemaster style case

A hpdi lower was faster on my zx225 so it will help some setups. Read post on "hpdi lower results." So I wouldn't say it would be slower on all boats.

My point is that a coned case is not always faster. Many variables between what case/cone works on different hulls.

Everybody run out and get 5 more mph because Jim said so... </TD></TR></TABLE>

One thing is that no one considered is on the o66 case the skeg is thin and week much much stronger on a hpdi... I lost several o66 skegs....not a alot of o66 lower units with 1.75 gears either.....I still have not seen a bobs coned HPDI case......mabey they have done one but I still think titus is the ONLY one that has done it... I have been running high hp yamahas for 10 years or so and have been down that road before just trying to help
