I recently purchased a 1998 21 XD with a 1998 225 EFI. It has 12 inches of setback and I measured it to be 3 inches below the pad. It has an older 26 trophy on it that has holes in it but are the older smaller ones. WOT I saw 15 psi on water pressure. The boat runs great once on plane but takes it around 5 seconds to get out of the hole and this is with a light load. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I put new plugs in it, new water pump and had lower unit inspected/serviced.
Sounds like you need to have PVS holes drilled into her!! Or get a new Trophy Plus..

Back in the day the Merc EFIs had some low end torque problems. I thought it was more like in the 96' motors but it could have been in the 98's, I really don't remember. But you'd think a lightly loaded Bullet would be ok for holeshot with about anything.
Discipline is the key, if you can't hack it, pack it!
Thanks for the input, I think i am going to send my current prop off to have the PVS holes drilled out and go from there.
KD I have the same rig as u but I'm 1" below the pad runnin a 26 trophy plus with 1/2" holes drilled in the plugs. I have no problem with holeshot. I get 25 lbs of water psi at wot. So I'm gonna jack her up some more. I gonna need a bigger wheel also.

I have a 2003 21XD with a 2004 Mercury 3.0 225 EFI and I have a 2 second holeshot with a 28 TXP-0T4 and no pvs holes I love this prop, my top end is 82.6 on the gps so I have a good prop 1 1/2 inches below the pad I'm going to try 1" below one time and see what I get...my speed in the summer is 82 with over 3/4 tank of gas... not bad for a little ole merc 225
