    Biobor vs Stabil Marine Formula

This stuff has been out for a while. Just asking for information from anyone knowledgable.

I have been using Stabil from day one in my engine. Not looking to switch, just looking for opinions and thoughts.

I even did a search for Biobor and came back with nothing, either current or archived.

    Lets here them.

Re: Biobor vs Stabil Marine Formula (SkeeterDon)

If that's the one made around Houston, they used to put right on the label that the product would rejuvenate old gas. No product on the planet will do that, and I don't trust people who lie.

I know one thing, theres a lot of guys in Texas running it instead of Stabil. My local Skeeter dealer sells the u know what out of it and they run it in all the new I and FX Skeeters.

    Re: BIOBOR vs Stabil

Just thought we'd chime in here. Here are some simple facts for some key comparison since this is what this topic is about. BIOBOR has been in use by the military since 1965. BIOBOR is formulated upto E20, stabil is not and will have to reformulate to meet new GOV standards coming for E15. Stabil treats 1/8 in a 16 oz bottle only treating 120 gallons. BIOBOR treats 1/15 and treats 240 gallons for 16 oz bottle. BIOBOR treats for ethanol, lubricity and stability all in one. Stabil you have to buy 3 seperate products. BIOBOR will save you more $$$ since it treats more fuel per oz and you don't have to buy 3 seperate products. There's some basic facts for ya. And yes, they are selling the crap out of it because one it save $$$ and because there are bonus bucks programs on Bass Champs and Ram Mega Bass for using it!!!

Hope that helps...recommend tryin it. The military wouldn't be using it in all 5 services if it wasn't a proven product.

Biobor is all I use in my boat. Biobor EB is unique in the way it attacks the problems with ethanol. The company has used its aviation technology to formulate a product that coats the water molecules in your gasoline and keeps them from bonding with ethanol. It also has a detergent (similar to ring-free) that helps clean your motor and fuel lines making everything run more efficiently. Biobor EB is the only fuel additive on the market that is endorsed by the pros and is the only thing I will run in my Yamaha.

Funny how some people will sign up onto BBC and their first post is to promote a product. Served in the USAF for 20 years and never heard of Biobor.

I thought the same thing this morning when I read it. Maybe I'll google it, maybe I won't. I'm happy running what I have ran for the past six years (seafoam) so why change up now.

another option is Startron to combat ethanol.

Looking at what's in Wikipedia (which looks and sounds like an ad, even Wiki says that), it reads a lot like the Startron (a microbicide to kill the fungi in the fuel).

I look at it like this, if guys are pouring it, and it exclusively in the fuel tank to treat the fuel that runs through their brand new $20,000 engines, as well as the $20,000 engines they sell I am thinking they have done more research on it than I have. I'll take their word for it, all this Ethanol scare stuff is crazy enough as it is. I already put near $20 in crap in almost every fill up worrying about ethanol, carbon, stabilization, etc.

    Re: (TexasCub)

I had a long discussion at the Houston boat show with a guy pushing Biobor - he worked for that company. I asked him why it said on the label it would rejuvenate old gasoline and he grinned and said you got me there, of course it won't do that. I don't know what difference it makes if it will treat E15, because there isn't an outboard on the planet that will run on E15. I don't know if it is a good product or not, all I know for sure is I won't do business with a company that intentionally, falsely advertises their product.

    Re: (Charlie206)

I am sure it is a great product and I am all about saving $. However I have to step back and look at the whole picture.

I have been using Stabil Marine Formula for 5 years and no issues. Biobor EB claims to do the same, plus some and uses less per gallon therefore $ savings. But if it ain’t broke I am not going to fix it.

There is not enough data and talk out there amongst the fisherman in order for me to make the switch and feel confident.

Your product may in fact be superior, while the military has been using it for twenty+ years, the talk amongst fisherman and mechanics is just not out there for us to read as of yet. Before I made my post I did a search and found nothing within the BBC and a few other forums.

We just need more time to make an educated analysis

Re: Biobor vs Stabil Marine Formula (SkeeterDon)

I like everyone else am worried about this ethanol so i started reading up and have had reputable mechanics tell me to use marine stabil and ring free only. I was using seafoam until i was told it contained alcohol so i looked at the msds and sure enough it does so i looked up biobor and it contains ethylene glycol which is alcohol, and in my brain why would i want to add more alcohol to gas that already contains up to 10% so i think i am going to take their advice and just use marine stabil and ringfree since i have heard of others with no problems. Not trying to dispute anybody elses findings just trying to make my boat last as long as i can because the price of them and the economy i sure cant afford another.
