2004 - 225 HPDI question. idle but no power

Help! What can I check next?

I thought I had picked up some bad gas last weekend. Got to the lake and ran fine for the first 15 to 20 minutes then she just fell off plane with lose of power. No alarms and I checked the fuel bulb which was tight however never could get back on plan again so I ended up limping back to the ramp and headed home.

The first thing I checked was the fuel filter which did have a little crude along with a few drops of water so I thought I had figured it out. I put in a new filter and also drained both tanks and put in fresh clean gas. Still doing the same thing, cranks right up and idles fine, just doesnt have any top end and boggs down when giving it the gas. With just a water hose on the motor I can feather the throttle and get it to rev up however it takes several seconds.
I also changed the spark pulgs thinking one of those may had been bad however that didnt help either.

Anything else I can check out before I have to take it into a shop to have it looked at?

    TIA!

I would check compression at this point before you keep digging.

Do you have a 10 micron filter installed?

Lift pumps could also be the problem.

How did the plugs look? A fouled plug would give you the symptoms you describe.

Many other things but I would start there.

I checked the compression and they are all between 109 and 111.
Yes I replaced the 10 Micron filter that is in the filter housing with the water seperator float.
plugs looked ok however I replaced them anyways with no help.

I read in one of my searches that there are 3 filters that need to be checked. I only replaced one. If there are more, where are they at?
also how can I check the fuel pump? I noticed that while the motor is running that the fuel level drops down a inch or so in the fuel filter housing. Is this normal?

Does the motor stop at a certain RPM? My ox66 225 is kind of doing the same thing as yours but it stops around 2000 RPM.

It revs fine when it's in neutral... the problem only occurs when in gear.
