Any of the watermellon colors, My fav is watermellon gold. Have you never tried these?
Also regular fluke is my favorite size but if you gonna throw an upside down job, I would get some jr's too. They are better for schoolers if you can throught that light. No swivel, just hook it straight so it doesnt twist

Re: Who fishes a Fluke ???? (Gun Runner)

You can throw them all day on any baitcaster weightless with any type of line. I have caught alot of fish on them with 30# braid but mono is how I fish it mostly. Its personal preference. You should get alot of feed back because thats a very popular bait. Dont be afraid to carolina rig one either.

Re: Who fishes a Fluke ???? (Gun Runner)

Personally I use as small as I can with most baits, so with flukes a 2 or a 3 is plenty. However when I use the braid I go bigger b/c I have snapped them in half. Also I go with a 5 if its windy and I dont want to go to a split shot.

Re: Who fishes a Fluke ???? (Gun Runner)

Use a #3 Gama. Super Line hook. It has enough wieght to easily throw with a bait caster. That is all I throw Super Flukes with. I do use Super Fluke Jrs and use a #1 or #2 super line hooks. I use regular Flukes for car. rigging.
As far as color, around here the primary bait fish is finger mullets. So, any combo that has alot of white.

I use about a 4/0 wide gap for a fluke and fish it on Mono.

Re: Who fishes a Fluke ???? (jigginjeff)

A fluke has been one of my go-to baits for years. When nothing else seems to work the fluke is the bait to throw. I always fish it weightless on a 6-6" Med-Med Hvy rod with 14-17 lb test line. I normally use a 3/0 Gama EWG hook but will go up also if its windy. Really Good bait to use over submerged grass. I usually stick with the basic colors... Watermelon Red, Watermelon Seed, Pearl White. Arkansas Shiner is a good neutral type color also. I usually work it like a jerk-bait.

Call up Saint at Alchi baits and tell him you want some of his jerkbaits like he made up for Eddie Riley. I think he called them bluegill. They are deadly in the spring. Otherwise, as stated above, just go with Watermelon Red or something like that.

Watermellon seed, Watermellon candy, Baby Bass, Gray back/ white belly. 99% of the time, it's a super fluke, fished on an Owner 4/0, but i'll drop down to a Gamakatsu 3/0 EWG that's a little lighter and slower on the fall. Hook them differently and they react differently. Hook 'em a certain way, and they pop to the surface and you can walk the dog with them. There's a lot of ways to fish them. Oh yeah, i usually fish them on 30# braid.

That's a bait I have tied on almost all year. I actually fish it on pretty heavy tackle a lot of the time because of where I throw them. I like to throw them around surface grass that isn't completely matted with holes here and there. I fished one most recently on a 7'0" H rod and 17# fluoro and it worked great. They shouldn't be difficult to cast. Really fun bait to fish!
