Using Penzoil Premium Blend for 03 250HPDI, (NOT SYNTHETIC)

I have an 03 HPDI 250. I have been running yammalube ever since buying the boat used over a year ago. I was told to always use yamma lube and ring free. I have recently been reading about other oils. I have a case of Pennzoil Premium Blend, not the synthetic, that I would like to use since I have 3 gallons of it and will save a few bones. This is TCW-3 certified. Will it hurt my motor at all being an older motor. How far down to I use my yammalube in the tank before adding the oil. I want to use it, but I am really cautious about causing problems. Also, if ok to start using it, will I be able to switch back to yamma lube since not a synthetic oil. Thanks in advance

It's a pretty common saying around here that "the most expensive thing you will ever put in your motor is cheap oil"

Not to say the Pennzoil won't do the job. I'd just be more comfortable using the oil that Yamaha formulated specifically for their engines. I don't blame you for wanting to save a buck, I just wouldn't do it with your oil on an HPDI motor.

I have used the Penzoil Premium Blend in my 2004 200 OX66 for a year.......not sure what the previous owner of my boat was running. It has perfromed well and I have had no issues......I also run Marine Stabil and Seafoam in every tank of Gas.....

I've been using the PZ synthietic blend in my OX66 225 for the past 2 years with no issues. Actually, it's running better than it did on YL. It runs MUCH cleaner and doesn't smoke nearly as much. My plugs last all year now and I clean my O2 sensor once per year. With YL, I was changing the plugs 2-3 times per year and cleaning the O2 sensor atleast twice because the motor was always gunked up with carbon.

Use it...It is a much cleaner burning oil than the Yamalube is...I have run it in my 250 OX66 for 3 years with no issues at all and absolutely no carbon build up...Even the inside of my prop hub is clean...
