    Running on muffs

I just picked up my new Champ 198 with a 225 HPDI. I want to run it on the muffs for a few minutes and I see it has the low water pickups.........are all HPDI's setup this way. Can you put muffs on it and run it or not?

    Thanks, Bob

I run mine with the flush hose on the passenger side of the lower cowling.

Does water go through the pump and into the powerhead this way or not? I thought it said in the manual not to do that. I don't know....this is my first Yamaha and just want to make sure I do it right...

I have read both yes and no... But I have been doing it for years w/o any trouble. No buzzers or alarms go off either. I have a temp gauge and it never gets hot.

I've read the same as well...some say yes, some say no. The dealership that I bought my boat did this exact thing for me during a walk-through of the boat.

The only way I have found to keep the muffs on the low water pickup is with duct tape.I use the flush hose without any problems. My dealer said just don't rev.it over 1500.

They ran it thru the flush connection when walking me thru the boat as C&O this weekend, with Todd standing right there. I'm pretty confident that'll work!

No prob, unhook the engine hose on the passenger side and attach to water hose...first.
Its best to do this about 7am on a Sunday so your neighbors get the full effect...
