why doesn't my 2006 VMax 150 smoke?.......

Title should read "2007" VMax 150

Been away from carb motors for a while, but got an AWSOME deal on a 2007 Champion 183 with a VMax 150 carb motor that I couldn't pass up!
Motor is SUPER strong! VERY impressed. Only had it out twice so far, and was wondering...........Aren't these supposed to smoke at all???
Mine doesn't throw even a puff of smoke when starting up, cold or hot. Last carb motor I had was a 1987 Mercury 150 XR2 and it DID smoke.
I'm just wondering if the oil setting is set too lean. Guy I bought it off of says it's still at factory setting.
I will say, this is a STRONG motor for a 150!!!

Mine is an '04 and it smokes some at start up, but after that, not much. Also, i never messed with my pump. Still the same settings as the first day i got her.

It may have Amsoil in it...

not yet!
It still has Yamalube from the previous owner, but I do have 15 or so gallons of Amsoil synthetic in my basement, from my previous boat, waiting to use!

mine is a 08 it smokes, but then again i have been running dubble the oil; for breakin, hmmmm maybe thats why my plugs fouled?
