    Re: hard warm starting ox66 150? (hanker71)

I've got a 1990 150 proV that kinda does the same thing. I've found that if I stop and fish an area for 30-45 minutes I have to pump the bulb again before I start the motor. It's almost like you're starting up in the morning because the bulb is soft again and needs about 4-5 squeezes. I don't know what causes all the fuel to drain back so quickly but since I started doing this I've had very little problems. And yes, if I forget to do this it will stall pretty quickly and you can smell the unburned fuel kinda like it's flooded. Don't know why? Probably got something to due with the diaphram's in the fuel pump but I'm not messing with it as long as this is working for me. I just ain't got a bunch of money to be tossing around to Yamaha mechanics and I ain't never really torn in to an outboard. That's probably the only downfall of owning a Yamaha. They usually run so good you never have to work on them.

Headhigh, that sounds like it works good for your motor, but on an efi engine you should never have to pump the bulb before starting the engine. I have tried it just for the heck of it anyway. Thanks though.

Oops! I didn't realize the ox66's were fuel injected. See, I told ya I didn't know a whole bunch about outboards. Kinda scary considering this is the 3rd Yammie I've owned.
