    Getting to my o2 sensor

I am wanting to clean my o2 sensor. The info here has been great and Im pretty sure I can handle it but when I got the two 10mm bolts out of the black cover it seems to be hanging on something and I didnt want to force it. I can move it out towards me 1/4 inch or so but thats about it. Any ideas?

If you've got the two bolts out just pull it harder. There's a dog-bone tube inside that gets carboned up and hangs up. You'll need a new gasket for the base, its about $15 at the dealer. I usually find more carbon buildup in and around that crossover tube than on the O2 sensor itself.

Re: Getting to my o2 sensor (Hamfisted)

Got it. It wasn't so much the dog bone as much as I couldn't see the slot for the wires to come through the box. FWIW after I got in there I found my sensor to be loose. To the point that it even leaked a little oil down and out the box. I went ahead and disassembled, cleaned with sea foam over night and put her back together nice and tight. It was really not gunked up bad but Im sure being that loose would cause it to suck air. Ill be taking her to the water in the morning
