    horn going off? kinda weird

went to the lake last sat night
ran to our first spot and was markinf it on the GPS and had the boat ideling in neutral and a horn went off beep....beep....beep like an oil low alarm
the only thing was the oil level was full.
the weird thing is.....after some checking the motor runs fine not shutting down
and the horn will ONLY go off if it is in neutral with the key on or off and with the motor on or off if it is in gear it will not go off

im kinda lost andone have any ideas?
the lake was pretty rough and we took some pretty hard hits and i am thinking that i may have jarred something loose maybe?

Well, if you were down South, I would say that your high temp is going of due to the water temp 80+ degrees plus idle= alarm (sometimes)
Check your poppit valve for weed block. Best I can offer....

Seems like there was a post earlier about a similar problem and it involved the fuel filter/water separator? Full of water and it would cause the alarm to go off??

Find the wires coming out of the bottom of your oil reservoir. They will be coming from your oil level alarm switch. Trace wires back to the connectors and then unplug them. If alarm goes away, then you have a bad switch in the reservoir. I think you may have to replace the entire reservoir to get a good switch, if this is the problem.
