I have a cousin in law that wants to go fishing for some big Redears next spring. Which lake would be the best, Kentucky or Barkley? And what time of year? I never have fished for them so I'm in the dark. Anyone have any ideas?

kentucky or barkley are both good. i stumbled upon enjoying crappie fishing. However now that im stationed in La drive down the basin outside of Baton Rouge you will slam some big ones in the spring.
Either lake will be great. I would plan around the full moons in April, May and June.

I've seen some huge redear come out of ky river down around the blood river....and big bluegills as well.
Suspect you could do well in either lake.

I've always done all my shellcracker fishing on Barkley. A rock bar at the right depth is what it's all about.
