    Fishing trip

Well caught fish, but no major size.

Am sure John will add his comments on the trip and the 100 mile getting lost

What a let down got to G'ville and water @ goose pond was 84 by noon
Algae started growing on Tues, and was every where shallow on Wens.
Water near the dam was 80.
John caught one that was close to 5#
Tues. @ 2 Am we left and headed for Ky Lake.
Caught a lot of fish but mostly no keepers, water there is almost 75.
Guess all in all we caught close to 100 fish with John getting the biggest for the trip and I got one on Fri. Morning that was 4.5#.
Packed up and headed home on Fri. around noon.
Long trip for two old men, both tired but it was fun and we did catch fish.
No pictures, as there was nothing worth taking a picture of
The way the water was on Ky. would say by the time of the rally, fishing will be on the ledges due to water temp.
Am sure John will add his comments on the trip and the 100 mile getting lost

You gotta be kidding me, right?
You fished arguably the best two lakes in the country, and you have the audacity to complain? Come on. Be thankful you are physically able to go and enjoy your retirement. You tell enough people about it

    He has a point.

Sorry you all didn't get any size but at least you got to go! Sounds like the 2 of you had fun catching fish at least. Size only matters in practice and tournaments.

Where on KY did ya'll fish? All reports I'm reading and hearing are saying the major push on KY hasn't started for spawning but at 75 that makes no sense? I figured it'd be in the 60's but not 75!!!

I'm headed to Paris next Sat and was expecting a pre spawn/spawn bite!

I saw 70-73 Friday. You should hit it about right Matt for the first wave. Saw plenty of big girls cruising in the backs but man they were spooky.

The base water temp on Ky is 66.75 this morning..you can find some temps around 70 in the afternoon and some places a little higher..but afternoon temps have nothing to do with spawning.

    Re: Fishing trip (Dave Stewart)

    Adding to Ed's comments:

G'ville was great except the 85 degree air temp with blue bird skies and no breeze. All the locals were saying we were about 3 weeks too late. Another group from Louisville did manage to capture an 8lb-2.

Kentucky Lake, as Dave S commented is a Lady in waiting.

Best thing about the water temp being so warm - makes those unexpected early morning dips quite enjoyable. Seems in our haste to launch Thursday morning - " I FORGOT TO PUT THE PLUG IN !!!! Only took 2 dives under to reach the plug - not too bad for an old guy - me !!

Ramps and parking look like mid-summer.

About 69 to 70 degrees is what i have been seeing also Dave. The fish are close but not there yet, need a full moon for the first wave and the second full moon for the second wave.

I really beleive those grand maa are out ther in about 5 feet of water on the flats just awaiting the full moon. I caught the heck of of 14 inches the other day back in 2 feet of water, backed out to about five feet and caught a 6 and a 3.5.

Well Ed...at least you got to fish two of the best lakes in the middle of the country. I sure hope the fish aren't on the ledges when it's time for the rally. At least when they are up shallow, I can catch a lot of fish...just no keepers. But if they're on the ledges I'll have no clue where to fish. I won't need to bring any tackle, Bruce and I can just go boat riding.

No doubt in my mind about that brother...every big fish we had in the boat last week was caught in about 5-8 ft of water staging up....I did break off one big girl in about 2 ft of water but I think she was lost...

    Re: Fishing trip (Dave Stewart)

Sorry I missed you guys at Kenlake Friday. Thought I saw Ed's truck Friday but thought you guys were at Guntersville. LOTS of 14-14.90" fish I'd say 40 Friday 80 on Saturday and 30 on Sunday. 10 keepers in the boat in 3 days was a little disappointing. Still a good time when ever I get down there.
