Won Our Club's Classic at Patoka Last Weekend!!

We'll got to give props to my brother for bailing our a** out on the second day of our Patoka classic last weekend!! We had our 2 day classic and won with around 27lbs. We had almost 16lbs. the first day, and just shy of 12lbs. the next day. We won big bass both days. Had a 5.23 the first day, and a 5.68 the second day.

Fishing has been a little slow lately up there, but we managed to cull through 8 keepers the first day. Only weighed in 4 the second day. Lost more good fish that day than I have in quite some time. Turns out it didn't matter. We won a total of $1350.00 Not bad for a 10 boat tournament!!

Wish we would have been in the Hoosier Open 2 day Classic. Took 34 to win that and that is with a 6 fish limit. We had 27 in a 5 fish limit. Plus lost several good fish that would have definetly made it interesting. Even with what we had it would have put us squarley in 3rd place. Oh well....

We have definetly put our time in up there, and I want to thank my little brother for his hard work. He's the best partner I've ever had, and I owe alot of our success up there to him. He's up there at least a couple days a week for us preparing. Its amazing how when you fish as much as we do up there how you just get a sense of where the fish are going and can follow them. Time on the water is irreplacable.

Anyways congrats to Kelly and Kenny Engle. They are good sticks up there, and are always a threat to win.. I always get a kick out of them when I see them out there. The old man NEVER stands up when he fishes, but they sure do catch them. Especially this time of year.

Mike, Doc had 4 fish each day. They were small keepers, but 4 each day none the less. He also fished by himself, so that was a pretty solid performance. Doc has the right mindset to fish that lake. Hes willing to experiment offshore, and for those of us that are consistent up there you have to be offshore. The days of winning running the banks up there are over. Maybe a little in the spring and fall, but overall you better be offshore. I look for Doc to really got good up there in the near future.

Congrats to the Eason boys on winning our club classic. They were solid up there all year long and this weekend was no exception. After the year they had I'd say they deserved to walk away as the champs.

They pretty much put it away on Day 1 with an exceptional 16 lbs. Second place was about 8 lbs behind them after the first day of fishing. They put another 12 pounds up on day two and walked away easily with the win. In addition they won big fish both days with a couple of real monsters.

Since you asked, I got third with four keepers each day. Never got into any big fish, but I consider it a moral victory considering I was fishing alone due to some unfortunate circumstances.

We have a really good club full of solid fishermen and we are blessed with some good members. You will never see any arguments or complaining in our club. We always limit the number of boats to 15, but we lost a few due to the economy last year, so if anybody is looking for a great club that fishes only Patoka give me or Tom Eason a yell.

We will put one together in Jan or Feb. We try to miss the weekends of some of the bigger tourneys if at all possible, so we will wait for most of their schedules to be released. If you want in, you are in - I'll vouch for ya!!!
