Well I am taking my graduation $ and upgrading the electronics on my boat. Can anyone recommend a set up. I want a GPS for the dash and color on both. I am thinking Hummingbird, 597 and 587. Any thoughts?

I ended up getting the 788 ci model for the dash. The boat came with a Piranha Matrix 250 I think. The power and transducer plugs fit the 788 fine, just wondering if I would be that lucky that I didn't have to send the transudcer the unit comes with back to Hummingbird in return for an in hull mount transducer since I had one for the Piranha. I'm usually not that lucky, but I plugged her in and everything worked fine, GPS and sonar. Both transducers are 60 degree dual beams so I am thinking it's going to work out. The only difference I saw was in the power plug had a 12 on it and the 788 power plug had a 3 on it. The transducer plug had only three prongs that came with the 788 but on the Piranaha it had all 5 prongs (more the better?). Anyway, can't wait to get out and play with the new electronics this weekend.
Maybe the extra prongs were for a temperature gauge?
thats what I was thinking, but I couldn't understand why the Piranha would come with it and the 788 did not? Guess I am going to give hummingbird a call.
