accidentally caught several smallmouth at dalehollow today

you guys are gonna laugh at this. i jugfish quite a bit, usually throuhout the summer. i take alot of my dock-neighbors kids out, they really get a kick out of jugging for catfish, they especialy get excited when we catch a monster gar, or a big turtle. I always use shiners i get from strange bait in burkesville. me and my shop mgr decided to go down to the boat yesterday and stay for today to do some jugging. well, guess what you catch on jugs with shiners in cold weather? several nice smallies in the 2-4lb range! we did catch several nice channel cats like usual, but i was shocked when we had to chase a jug with a smallie leaping out of the water, the smallies really go nuts on a jug, talk about a handful!!

So that's my problem. I've been using a rod and reel and lures to catch smallies. Who would have thought that jugs were the answer!

I saw a noodle bobbing like crazy in one of my favorite spots over the weekend that I've caught a lot of good smallies out of.....Curiousity got the better of me to look and it had about 15lb cat on it.

I saw a lot of jugs/noodles out this spring down there but never any last fall/winter. I saw quite a few over the weekend scattered out all around the lake.
